Deux Pieds sur Terre / Stick to Ground is Kohndo's second solo album, it features Grammy nominated singer Dwele, as well as Detroit's Slum Village, Insight, and 20Syl (Hocus Pocus). Originally released with a DVD (still available in stores).
KOHNDO's recording career began at 19 yrs. old as a part of LA CLIQUA, an influential French Hip-Hop group. With the now certified classic "CONÇU POUR DURER", released in 1995 through Arsenal Records, he offered a glimpse of his incredible writing skills and style. He then participated in various label projects including "ARSENAL : REPRÉSENTE LE VRAI HIP-HOP" (1996) and ROCCA "ENTRE DEUX MONDES" (1997).
After leaving La Cliqua in 1998, Kohndo renewed himself, getting a buzz by multiplying projects and onstage performances. In 1999, he eventually released his first solo project entitled "PRÉLUDE À L'ODYSSÉE". When asked about the nature of his creative process, he explains that he wants to offer the public "...an authentic Hip-Hop, with mature subjects while keeping the energy of the streets."
KOHNDO completed his trilogy by releasing two additional EP's, that, once and for all, established him as a solo artist: "JUNGLE BOOGIE" (2000) and "J'ENTENDS LES SIRÈNES" (2001). Well-received and critically-acclaimed, each one of KOHNDO’s releases seemed to blow a breath of fresh air into a French rap scene saturated with unnecessary violence and fake gangsters.
In early 2003, he released "TOUT EST ÉCRIT" (ASCETIC MUSIC), his first solo album, licensed through Nocturne. Armed with an artistic vision strengthened by 10 years of hard work, KOHNDO delivered a recollection of "urban poetry" with welcome hints of soul and jazz. Grateful for the public interest, KOHNDO then released "BLIND TEST", a compilation of his first EP's and some exclusive material announcing his new album "DEUX PIEDS SUR TERRE / STICK TO GROUND", released, in France, in 2006 on Greenstone Records.
On this new album, it's alongside Boston rapper, INSIGHT, and Detroit’s very own DWELE and SLUM VILLAGE that KOHNDO showcases unlimited talent. Partly produced in Detroit, "DEUX PIEDS SUR TERRE / STICK TO GROUND", is the bridge between KOHNDO's Parisian universe and a New York Hip-Hop spirit that he often refers to as "Roots". Mixing reflection, Hip-Hop energy, and soul sensitivity, Kohndo has been spotted opening for US artists such as MASTA ACE, EDO G (at Nouveau Casino), TALIB KWELI, MOBB DEEP (La Scène Bastille) and Soul legend: ISAAC HAYES (RIP) at the Olympia.
KOHNDO unites, offering common ground for diverse audiences: From specialised magazines to general press, from purists to newcomers, from experts to newbies...
Sometimes acting as radio host ("Bienvenue chez Ouam"), a slammer, or a soul music expert (Soul Venture column "Real Mag"), KOHNDO, thanks to the depth of his lyrics, an undeniable swing, and a clear vision of the world that surrounds him, takes the listener to the heart of quality music.
